David Blakey breathes life into music-music that spans Classical, Jazz, Pop, Rock, as well as Flamenco and Latin American styles. His versatility is extraordinary; his style and technique impeccable. A devoted guitarist for over 30 years, he seeks out, selects, and arranges music to constantly expand his musical dimensions. No matter what style, David’s music expresses every mood and emotion, with the consummate taste and skill of a master guitarist.

Guitarist David Blakey is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area. A complete guitarist, he has been praised for his musicianship, depth, and versitility. Mr. Blakey studied the classical guitar with Cuban guitarist Jose Rey de la Torre and Karl Herreshoff. His jazz studies were with Dave Smith. A seasoned performer, he has participated in national tours and numerous Northern California engagements. His credits include: orchestral, chamber music, and solo concerts, as well as performing jazz, popular, and international styles extensively. A highly regarded guitar instructor, Mr. Blakey directed the Creative Music School (1971-1976) and has been a member of the Dominican College of San Rafael Music Faculty since 1976.

David’s diverse repetoire includes classic flamenco solos by Sabicas, Paco de Lucia, Paco Pena, Mario Escudero, and the Gypsy Kings to name a few. David also performs favorites from Duke Ellington, the Beatles, Otis Redding, Van Morrison, and the Police. If you are a movie or T.V. buff, David performs classsic themes from Mission Impossible, James Bond films, and Hawaii Five-O.
