Mano a Mano features guitarist Daniel Maya on guitar with another guitarist or a percussionist. This lively group features classic Latin and Brazilian music in an original blend of styles. The group embodies both senses of the word by playing music whose rhythmic and lyrical qualities touch the audience in body and soul.
Daniel Maya is known for his unique brand of pulsating, energetic music, best described as Acoustic Groove. He studied Flamenco guitar in Spain with a family of Gypsy performers, and has a B.A. in Music from SF State University.
Daniel has performed widely throughout the San Francisco Bay area, has had lengthy engagements at the Four Seasons Clift Hotel, The Palace Hotel, and the famed Michael Mina Restaurant at the Westin St. Francis Hotel. He has also performed at many wineries in Napa, Sonoma and the South Bay, including Robert Mondavi, Cuvaison, Artesa, Clos Pegase, Far Niente, Byington, Viansa, Sterling and Niebaum-Coppola.
Daniel Maya and his group Tocar have appeared at the S.F. Jazz Festival, S.F. Performances, the North Beach Jazz Festival, and the San Jose Jazz Festival.
He has recorded 3 CDs of original music, Echoes of Paradise,Mano a Mano and Flamenco Bridge, as well as a CD of Classical guitar, Leyenda. Daniel Maya can perform solo and with a variety of performers. Daniel Maya is recognized as one of the premier Latin, flamenco and classical guitarists in Northern California. He also has an extensive jazz and Brazilian repertoire.
He has performed for over 25 years, playing extended engagements throughout Northern California for corporate and private events.
