Pianist Steve Klawiter studied jazz piano with master teacher Herb Wigley and jazz pianist and recording artist Manfredo Fest in the 1970s in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Steve started his professional career playing piano and keyboards and was the bandleader and arranger for many popular Twin Cities bands from 1972 to 1986. During this period Steve was the musical director for David Brenner and George Gobel during extended engagements at the Hippogriff, a very popular Minneapolis nightclub.
Steve performed from 1986 to 1988 playing jazz themed shows on the cruise ship The Scandinavian Sun based in Miami.
From 1988 to 1990 Steve moved to Scotland where he performed at jazz clubs, hotels and an extended engagement at the internationally reknowned Gleneagles Hotel and Golf Club.
Steve moved to the Bay Area in 1990 and has been playing piano full time in San Francisco from 1990 to the present. For the last 12 years, Steve performs weekly at the Huntington Hotel on Nob Hill in addition to frequently performing at the St. Francis Hotel, Mark Hopkins Hotel, Fairmont Hotel, Ritz Carlton, Palace Hotel, Hyatt Regency, Grand Hyatt, Hilton Hotel, Nikko Hotel, Renaissance Parc 55 and the Olympic Club.
Steve Klawiter has a wonderfully diverse repertoire of jazz, standards, Latin, Broadway and popular selections. His versatility and professionalism make him a wonderful choice for events.
April 19, 2008 engagement party at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel: Thank you for pianist Steve Klawiter. Steve was fun and friendly; we enjoyed his music. It was a very nice compliment to the evening.
